In fact, IML process and IMD process are both processes of the same nature from the perspective of process. The biggest difference is whether there is a layer of transparent protective film on the surface of the product. IMD refers to in-mold transfer printing. This process is to print the pattern on the film, bond the film with the mold cavity through the film feeder for injection molding, and then separate the patterned ink layer from the film, the ink layer remains on the plastic part to obtain a plastic part with a decorative pattern on the surface. There is no transparent protective film on the surface of the final product, and the film is only a carrier in the production process. However, they are all one-stop production processes through silk screen printing, molding, injection molding and package inspection, so everyone will confuse IML process with IMD process.
The process products are mainly used in small household appliances, black and white household appliances, automotive panels, digital products, sports equipment, smart home and other products of the surface decoration, especially now widely used in smart locks, sweeper and other products; the process has the characteristics of scratch resistance, clear and beautiful patterns, not easy to fall off, never fade, long service life and so on.
